First signs of Spring

Today we saw the first signs of Spring show their beautiful blooms!  It is always so exciting when the yard starts to come to life!  Coinciding with the plants coming to life in the Spring, so does the town of Waynesville and surrounding area go through a similar blooming.  It is such fun to get out to all of the Spring festivals and athletic events. New restaurants pop up and tried and true restaurants add new offerings and get ready for the season of visitors from near and far!   1. Waterfall viewing and local hiking are a wonderful way to get out and enjoy the Spring display of color.  
  2. If you are a “foodie” – the Waynesville Food and Wine Tour is an absolute must!  This informative and delicious tour will take you to 4 different locations in Waynesville for tastings with wine pairings.  Contact Leap Frog Tours for dates and details. 
     
  3. Is running your thing?? The Gateway to the Smokies Half Marathon will take you through the beautiful scenery of the Smokey Mountains on May 5th.  Stay at Oak Hill and we will make sure you get a good night’s sleep before and after the run!

  4. Go on a misty morning or evening Elk Tour with Cataloochee Valley ToursWestern NC Tours
  5. Bosu’s Wine Shop and Secret Wine Bar has 5 for $5 wine tastings on Thursday nights and a wonderful small plate offering on Friday nights. When the weather is nice, check out their outdoor patio off the beaten path!  On Wednesday March 14, 2018 they wPlaces to visit in Waynesville NCill host a Pacific Northwest Wine Dinner with Jeremy Sims of The Country Vintner for $75 a person.  The dinner will include a gourmet 5 course dinner! 
  6. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a  fun Waynesville Beer Tour offered by Leap Frog Tours!  Get picked up at the door of Oak Hill on Love Lane Bed and Breakfast and visit 3 great local breweries for tours and tastings! 
  7. The Biltmore Blooms Festival will run from March 20th to May 25th. Just a short 30 minute drive from Oak Hill! 
  8. April 13th & 14th the NOC will hold it’s Outdoor Elements Festival.  This event celebrates the Appalachian Trail thru-hikers and features the Flint Ridge 5k, along with lots of free activities including outdoor films, yoga, live music, giveaways, meals, and deals at the Outfitter’s Store. 
  9. April 28th the town of Sylva, just up the road from Oak Hill, celebrates Spring with their “Greening up the Mountains Festival”! 
  10. On May 4th stroll Main Street in Waynesville for the first ART After Dark of the Spring season! 
  11. There is nothing better than a good Block Party in the Mountains!  On May 26th join the Town of Waynesville for Dancing in the streets, food, vendors and fun! 
  12. Here is something fun and different!  Have you seen the award nominated movie “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”??
